Jinty 18 October 1975

Jinty cover 18 October 1975

A few strong serials were running at this time: I was never that struck by “Blind Ballerina” (though an application of a classic formula), but as I said previously, “Golden Dolly, Death Dust!” is a spooky, compelling read. “Song of the Fir Tree” is a story of runaways that is evocative partly for the rendering of the emaciated features of the young children recently released from a WWII camp; and “Ping-Pong Paula” is a very readable tale of sports rivals and of parental strife by Jim Baikie, one of my favourite Jinty artists.

Stories in this issue:

  • The Jinx From St Jonah’s (artist Mario Capaldi)
  • Blind Ballerina (artist Ana Rodrigues)
  • Golden Dolly, Death Dust! (artist Phil Gascoine)
  • Dora Dogsbody (artist José Casanovas)
  • The Haunting of Hazel (artist Santiago Hernandez)
  • Song of the Fir Tree (artist Phil Townsend)
  • The Valley of Shining Mist (artist Carlos Freixas)
  • Barracuda Bay
  • Ping-Pong Paula (artist Jim Baikie)
  • Do-It-Yourself Dot (artist Alf Saporito)

  1. I see some kid has made a badly doodled cover there. I do have a more scannable copy if you are interested.
